twenty-five seconds of silence

i'm beginning to glow… forever!

today, for lunch, there were six of us going out. it took us a long time to decided where to go, but we ended up at su’s mongolian bbq. i was hesitant about taking everyone there because it’s really expensive ($11.99) for mongolian bbq, especially when gobi is only $7.50. i kept on warning them, yet extolling the fact that their noodles, meats and sauces are much better than gobi’s wares. and to my relief, everybody agreed with me. i feel vindicated. and happy, too, because i really love, love su’s. it’s just that $14-15 is too much to pay for mongolian bbq every time i crave it.

workwise, today’s been a good day. i got one test to work, and i wrote another test, and it’s working, too. i did run into two strange problems along the way. first, one simv was incrementally compiled, and it exhibited a weird problem, where a clock just suddenly stopped working in the middle of a simulation. i had to do a “make clean,” and then it worked. and in another simulation, i changed a test and then compiled it, but the coherency on the hard disk had an issue where it didn’t take the latest version of the file, so a register didn’t get programmed correctly. i hate that! but now, everything seems hunky dory. :)

i was watching tv the other day, and there was this program on G4 (i think) that was talking about this website called “xtube.” basically, it’s this social networking site where people post up videos of themselves having sex. and then, if you like them, you can connect with them, and you can hook up with them and date them. interesting idea, i.e. seeing one’s sexual prowess first before dating. usually it’s the other way around, no?

i thought this was a novel idea. i mean, a long time ago, i talked about two things that i’d like to know about a girl before dating her: 1) how she’s like in a fight and 2) what she’s like in bed. but usually, these two attributes aren’t discovered until the relationship begins. (i’m not one to sleep around and hook up on the first night.) so what xtube does is help with the curiosity in point #2. very neat. although, the idea of watching a potential girlfriend do the nasty with another man/men is probably not the most appetizing thing, though. oh well, gotta be mature about that, right?

dinner at fu lam mum with the volleyball folks last night was amazing. we had 10 people, so we got 11 orders of food. talk about a fucking fantasmagorical feast. and everybody was hungry, too, so we blazed through the food like ravenous bears. i mean, every plate was licked clean. it was great. i’m sad that next week is a bye week, so there will be no volleyball dinner. fu lam mum rocks.

is beer an acquired taste? it just tastes so nasty. the only time i ever liked beer was when i lived in japan. it was the cheapest thing to drink (the dollar was weak, and it was EIGHTY yen to the dollar, yikes!), so i drank a lot of it. and japanese beer is actually pretty light, and by comparison, tasty, so i gradually grew to like it. my favorite was kirin ichiban. harrison ford did commercials for it. (a lot of actors do commercials for japanese products. lots of $$$ and no american backlash.) but once i came back to stanford, i reverted back to my hard alcohol.

i am getting close to receiving all of my tax documents. the only one i need is from my bank (wells fargo) account, the savings 1099-INT. then, i can do my taxes. i think i’m going to get quite a bit back this year, so i’m excited. yay for home ownership!

sometimes i wish i had a drinking buddy. like, someone to get trashed with. (well, maybe not trashed. i hate hangovers.) not that i want to get drunk all the time, but once in a while, i just want to drink enough to get a good buzz going. none of my friends really drink to that level. i mean, i sometimes to go the duke with tim, jimmy or john, but we just have one drink and chat. that’s certainly nice, but there are times when i want to have more. of course, driving is a problem, so i guess i need a designated driver, too. with everyone getting older and tamer, the days of partying seem to get drawing to a close for all of my friends.

speaking of that, happy birthday aileen! her birthday party sounds like a time to drink. it’s this weekend in SF, and i’m thinking of going. and regarding what i just said, i’d like to go with somebody instead of driving up there by my lonesome, which will probably be the case. argh. where are my party friends? i need to make some. maybe i’ll call up jennie.

i’m looking forward to visiting a place where i can crash overnight so i can go out drinking. maybe that’ll be in april, when i plan to visit amyM (among others) in NYC. i had a lot of fun when i went out with stef in NYC back in 2003. with all the cabs everywhere, we didn’t have to worry about driving at all.

hm. maybe this means i should throw another party. but if i do that, i’ll need to go about it in a different way. i didn’t have that much fun at my housewarming party, because i was so busy being a host. i’ll have to hire a co-host!

ok, my mavericks are playing the warriors right now. the warriors always seem to do well against my mavs. i’m going to call up john and see if i can go over to watch with him. ciao!
