twenty-five seconds of silence

i'm beginning to glow… forever!

two birthdays

saturday night, jay texted me, and he was in mountain view looking at cabinets for his new house, so we planned on having a late dinner. i waited around at my place for him to finish, and it took him two hours until he finished.

he finally got to my place around 10pm, so it was a perfect opportunity to go to fu lam mum, with their $8 late night specials. we ordered three dishes: the cantonese style chicken in clay pot, the salt and pepper fish, and the hunan sizzling spicy tofu. he loved them all. we even bumped into tim.

saturday, S called me, and we talked for 15 minutes before i left for cupertino to join tim and his dad for some taiwanese dim sum. they got the usual things (chinese donut, beef bread, soy drinks), and i got the spicy wontons (“hon yo tzao so”), which wasn’t bad. then, i went home and watched a part of the washington/WSU men’s basketball game.

jay sent out a flurry of e-mails, and i joined him, margaret and baby jaden at vasona park for a nice afternoon outside. the sun was out, and we walked around and let jaden play. jaden’s so cool; he sometimes walks with his hands clasped behind his back. so CUTE!

we hung out for a while there, and then i went home and watched the kansas/kansas state game. then, i got ready for jimmy (and sabrina’s) birthday dinner at vaso azzurro. there were 15 of us plus 3 babies.

i tried looking for some irish whiskey, but the bartender told me that a huge gang of irish people came a few days earlier and cleaned them out, so i wound up with a $11 glenlivet on the rocks. for dinner, i got a penne salsiccia without feta. there must have been four birthday meals while we were there, and for jimmy’s, the waiters came out and sang this awesome italian song followed by a quick rendition of “happy birthday.”

then, jen, ivy, eric and i crashed jimmy and sabrina’s place and watched _the hangover_ on dvd. i had already seen it in the theaters, but i still enjoyed it. what an awesome movie. but i was disappointed that this dvd version wasn’t the one that had the extra pictures.

sunday, i met up with alan, dean and jay and their wives for dim sum at dynasty. we spent two hours there. i ate a ton of food, and then i stopped off home first to look up burton park before meeting up with jeremy and kate there. it was kate’s (and her little sister carrie’s) birthday celebration. i hadn’t seen kate in a long time, so it was great seeing her again.

kate’s old friend annie also showed up, and i hadn’t seen annie in YEARS. she’s now married with two kids, leila and benjamin. i hung out for a few hours and then went home.

after i got back, i turned on the pro bowl. what a bore. romo didn’t play that well, throwing an interception. then, i called S up, and we talked for an hour. then, i watched the grammys, as it was trending on twitter like mad. i missed the lady gaga/elton john performance, but i caught it on youtube.

for dinner, i called alan up, but he and ting had already eaten, so he told me to eat more healthily and go to subway, so i went there and got a tuna sub. it was pretty good, actually.

and that was it for my weekend.
